`Call for Chapters for Edited Book

Introduction:

The issue of the conceptualisation and measurement of decentralisation have raised several debates among scholars.  Despite the clear theoretical role for urban governance performance in the literature the empirical evidence linking decentralisation towards Good Governance, effective public management is thin.  The effective devolution cannot be achieved by merely making provisions on paper but its impact must be visible on the ground and should benefit the institutions and citizens as well.  Urban local bodies are on the rise and are taking advantage of the opportunities of decentralisation, administration, integration, governance etc. in the globalisation process.  Urban local bodies and Cities are also facing with the new set of constraints social inequalities, poverty, climate change, food security and health.  Local societies and local governments should transform with the lessons learn from the administration in nation states in view of transformation impact on Governance.

Urban Governance and Governance are the recent concepts which are deliberately studied in academia and even in research institutions.  The Governance at decentralised level is one of the most important pillars under any government institutions.  This edited book will help the students and researchers to understand the present phenomena of administration and also paradigms of Urban Governance at this century throughout the world and organisations.  The Unmet needs of Social Science/Political Science and allied disciplines are important to understand since these disciplines are contributing more to the society and research community.
