The deadline for receiving abstracts for the 'Timely Histories' Conference to be held at CSDS, New Delhi between 12th and 14th October 2022 is now extended till June 1, 2022.
We invite abstracts for the Conference 'Timely Histories' on the histories, cultures, practices of temporalities in the early modern/modern/contemporary periods in South Asia and connected regions. The theme is broadly conceived to indicate the study of temporal cultures, notions, conventions, politics as an analytical problem. We are specifically interested in going beyond the understanding of time as a homogeneous substratum of all being and instead conceving temporality as a dynamic object and medium of historical processes and practical moulding.
The Conference is organised under the 5 year European Research Council (ERC) project 'Timely Histories: A Social History of Time in South Asia' at the Leibniz Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO), Berlin (https://www.zmo.de/forschung/timely-histories). The Conference is to be held in collaboration between ZMO and the Centre for the Studies of Developing Societies (CSDS) in New Delhi, India between 12 and 14th of October, 2022. All conditions permitting we hope to hold the Conference in person. We will offer travel and accommodation support for selected participants.
We are inviting abstracts not longer than a page including a bio note of 2-3 lines. The deadline for receiving the abstract is now June 1, 2022. Please mail your abstract and your queries (if any) to email@example.com with the subject line “ZMO-CSDS Time Conference abstract”. The longer final paper will be requested closer to the conference dates for circulation amongst participants and discussants.
