CALL FOR ABSTRACTS FOR AN ANTHOLOGY

THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW AND SOCIAL ISSUES

Please submit abstracts of 250-500 words for essays concerning social issues in The Andy Griffith Show, which aired

from 1960-1968. Social issues may concern the following topics but not necessarily limited to them:

The role of women in public office                  Family Feuds                     

Crime                                                             Cultural outsiders              

Alcoholism                                                     The role of police in society

Gender Roles                                                The absence of any ostensible minoriities

Construction of femininity and masculinity    Intergenerational conflicts

The homeless and socially disadvantaged    Stereotypes of women in society

Dr .William Reginald Rampone, Jr. teaches English literature with a specialization in early modern English literature with a focus on William Shakeapeare's plays and those of his contemporaries at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
