Screen Thought Journal is an open access, peer-reviewed journal available online which seeks to explore the critical nature, research and issues of the image, sonic and media humanities. It's mission is to provide opportunities for scholars, practitioners, and creatives to discuss emerging, experimental, and established ways of thinking about, but not restricted to, the moving image, digital media, sound, media, interactive communication, screen design, virtual, mixed and augmented reality, gaming, digital philosophy, and mobile and social technologies.

The NFT and Cinema edition, edited by Shaun Wilson, will explore aspects of how non fungible tokens (NFT) have intersected cinema in ways that include, but are not limited to:

  • film distribution
  • film finance
  • film production
  • cinematic arts including gaming, narrative and experimental film, video art, genre cinema
  • streaming moving image content
  • digital media
  • screenwriting
  • production aspects
  • post-production aspects
  • design-led cinema
  • digital design
  • communication design
  • philosophy
  • screen studies
  • media arts
  • cinema studies
  • fine arts film

To submit, please email shaun.wilson [@] rmit.edu.au an abstract of no more than 250 words with up to a 50 word biography stating contact email address, name, and affiliation if appropriate. Applications for this close 1 August 2022 and no late submissions will be accepted. Please use the subject title 'NFT and Cinema Abstract Submission V6, N1, 2022'

If accepted, full papers will need to be submitted by 30 October, 2022 as a single Word document with no password access or blocks that are:

  • Formatted in UK English spelling
  • Harvard citation
  • Single spaced, left justified
  • Text body 12 point Times New Roman regular
  • Headings 16 point Times New Roman regular (i.e. no bold)
  • No name or affiliation which we need for blind peer review.
  • The paper to be sent from the submitter's email address so we can track papers prior to sending out to reviewers.

Peer Review will be conducted between 3 October 2022 - 10 November, 2022 with papers and reports sent back to authors on or around 11 November 2022. You will have 30 days to respond and make changes if needed with final papers returned using the above format no later than 10 December. Journal online publication will be on 19 December, 2022.

All articles are published as single PDF documents under a Creative Commons CC license arrangement.

We do not accept previously published material.
