NORTH AMERICAN VICTORIAN STUDIES ASSOCIATION 2019

MEDIA. GENRE. THE GENERIC.

OCTOBER 17-19, 2019

NAVSA 2019 invites multiple perspectives on the Victorian period - in history, literary criticism, art history, media studies, and more. Our keynote speakers will be director Mike Leigh, whose most recent film is Peterloo (2018), and historian Priya Satia, author of Empire of Guns: The Violent Making of the Industrial Revolution (2018). We welcome a variety of scholars working on the exchange of ideas in and around nineteenth-century Britain or on their legacies today.

Proposals might directly address the conference theme of "Media, Genre, and the Generic"; alternatively, we offer the theme itself as generic: the conference is open-call on any topic. Submit on any area of research, teaching, or project-building (collaborative, creative, and/or public) that would be of interest to Victorianist scholars.

Please see the full CFP for more information.
