ASMEA Research and Travel Grants; Seeking Paper Proposals on Minorities and Women in the Regions

The Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa (ASMEA) is pleased to announce its 2017 Travel and Research Grant Programs in conjunction with its Tenth Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. to be held October 19 – 21, 2017. Grant awards range from $500 to $2500.

The deadline to submit a grant application is March 31, 2017.

Call for Host 5th NWFashionConference 2018

The fifth NWFashionConference (NWFC) is scheduled for the autumn of 2018. The NWFC Steering Committee is looking for a partner to host this next edition.

The NWFC was established to end the stubbornly persistent euro- and ethnocentric underpinnings of dominant fashion discourse and to construct alternative narratives. The NWFC stimulates critical reflection on fashion developments and histories.

CFP postgrad conference: Interdisciplinary Approaches to the Study of the Middle East and North Africa

The Middle East and North Africa Centre at Sussex (MENACS) invites proposals for paper presentations at a forthcoming postgraduate conference, to be held at the University of Sussex on 27-28 April 2017. The conference is designed as a broad forum that brings together UK-based PhD students working on the MENA region from any perspective. MENA here is defined in the broadest possible terms and includes Israel, Turkey, Iran and the central Asian states alongside countries in which Arabic is the majority language.
