Security Governance & Conflict Resolution Summer Programme at the University of Amsterdam

The Graduate School of Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam invites you to discover how the definiton of security has changed over time with the three-week Security Governance & Conflict Resolution course in one of the most progressive cities in Europe, Amsterdam! Participants will find out how stakeholders deal with conflicts and security and get an in-depth look into such topics as international security, new wars, human security, “Responsibility to Protect”, human rights, national security in a globalizing world, cyber security, private security companies and gated communities.

By the end of the course, we guarantee you will have an understanding of different theories and representations of a security factor and the field of security, and moreover, be skilled in critical analysis of the security realm. Two full-day excursions will illustrate both the Dutch and the EU perspectives toward security and conflict:

  • International Criminal Court
  • Humanity House
  • Peace Palace
