Call for Submissions: ISA's Human Rights Section Annual Awards

We are writing to announce that the HR section awards competitions for the upcoming year are now open. We offer awards in the following categories, and encourage members to self-nominate or to nominate other excellent works in the field of human rights. Please go to the “Awards List” [ https://www.isanet.org/Programs/Awards/Award-List/tag/HR] page of the ISA HR Section’s website for details on the adjudicating committees and how to submit nominations. If you were a chair or discussant on a Human Rights section-sponsored panel at the 2018 ISA Convention, we strongly encourage you to nominate suitable papers for the “Best Paper” or “Steven C. Poe Best Graduate Student Paper” awards. Award nominations are due by June 30, 2022.  

 

HR Best Book Award 

The Human Rights Section’s Best Book Award recognizes an outstanding monograph in the field of human rights published within the past two years. Nominated books will be evaluated for excellence and impact in terms of germaneness, substance, originality, and timeliness. HR Best Paper Award 

This award, sponsored by the Human Rights Section (HR), will be given to the best paper presented at the ISA Annual Convention by a faculty member (not restricted to rank) or professional or activist. (Nomination deadline: June 30, 2022; Submission to Committee Chair Matthew Weinert) 

 

Human Rights Section - Lynne Rienner Publishers Award for Best Dissertation 

The purpose of this award is to recognize the best dissertation in the field of human rights defended within two years of the award nomination deadline. Dissertations that ask timely and important questions and deploy innovative methods to answer those questions, as well as dissertations that engage directly with ongoing debates within the human rights field are particularly invited for consideration.(Nomination deadline: June 30, 2022; Submission via Google form: https://goo.gl/forms/Q6T9syZ7Gcdd9lyv2

 

Steven C. Poe Best Graduate Student Paper Award 

Graduate students are invited to participate in the Steven C. Poe Graduate Student Paper Competition sponsored by the Human Rights Section (HR) of the ISA. (Nomination deadline: June 30, 2022; Submission to Committee Chair Genevieve Bates)
