This conversation will celebrate the publication of The Posen Library of Jewish Culture and Civilization, Volume 9, Catastrophe and Rebirth, 1939–1973, edited by Samuel D. Kassow and David G. Roskies.

The Posen Library (posenlibrary.com) publishes a series of anthologies on Jewish history and civilization for the benefit of readers, researchers, educators, and students. The books offer direct access to excerpts—translated into English—from thousands of primary sources, reflecting Jewish creativity, diversity, and culture worldwide, and will span biblical times to the 21st century when complete. The Posen Library also hosts a digital version of these publications, free upon registration.

In this virtual event, Daniel Posen, CEO of the Posen Foundation, will present to the Museum’s Library a copy of Volume 9, which encompasses the Holocaust era and the postwar period through 1973. The program will feature discussion by the editors of the volume’s themes and their approach underlying the selection of the texts, moderated by Editor-in-Chief Deborah Dash Moore. The features and significance of the open access resource will also be considered.
