Dear Colleagues:

The Executive Committee of HOAC plans to hold an all members meeting in conjunction with the 2024 conference of the Organization of American Historians (OAH) to be held from April 11 to April 14 in the city of New Orleans.  We would also like to sponsor two to three panels at the conference.  The theme for the conference “Public Dialogue, Relevance, & Change: Being in Service to Communities and the Nation" is tailor made for HOAC.  If any of you have panel ideas for the New Orleans conference, please let us know.  We will help with the submission paperwork and publicize the panel on H-HOAC, on our Twitter account and in the pages of American Communist History.

OAH is not accepting individual paper proposals for the 2024 conference (see the OAH website for details of the new policy) but if you have an individual paper proposal send it to HOAC (at and we will help you connect with others to create a full panel proposal.

The OAH call for panel proposals is open from December 1, 2022, to March 1, 2023.  We are happy to review potential HOAC sponsored panels and papers anytime before or during the submission period.

We look forward to hearing from you and creating a series of panels showcasing the work of our members.
