Dear Colleagues,

I'm writing to invite you to a conversation with Sonam Kachru about his recent book, Other Lives: Mind and World in Indian Buddhism on the Buddhist philosopher, Vasubandhu's Twenty Verses. It will be this Thusday, at 5-6:30pm Los Angeles time. We will be discussing topics such as dreams and other worlds, the entangled relationship of mind and world (or what it means to inhabit a world), and the importance of friendship on the Buddhist path. We will aim to make the conversation accessible to non-specialists and will have time for questions from the audience. (This is part of Mangalam Research Centers on-going Spotlight series.)

You can register here on Eventbrite (the event is free, although donations to Mangalam Research Ceter are welcome). A private recording will be shared with registrants after the event. The next Spotlight talk (December 2) will be with Natalie Gummer on "Sūtra Time," based on an essay that appears in Mangalam's new publication edited by Natalie, Langauge of the Sūtras, Essays in Honor of Luis Gómez.

Best wishes,

Karin Meyers
