Luis Gómez Memorial Lecture Fund

Scholar of Buddhism and major influence on the field, professor, translator of Buddhist texts, and founder of Michigan’s highly regarded Ph.D. program in Buddhist Studies, Luis O. Gómez passed away on September 3, 2017, shortly after the 2017 Translation & Transmission Conference, which was his last public appearance. To honor his memory, the University of Michigan is seeking to raise an endowment to establish the Luis Gómez Memorial Lecture Fund, which would support an annual lecture in Luis’s honor, bringing a major scholar of Buddhism to campus. Generous donations from students of Luis and from Buddhist organizations from around the world have helped raise more than half of the fundraising goal. To help reach the goal, please consider making a donation here.

You can also watch his final speech online at the memorial page set up on the Translation & Transmission Conference website.

Sincerely,

Marcus Perman

Hello,
I would be happy to make a small contribution in honor of Luis Gomez. But two different browsers tell me:

HTTP Error 403.18 - Forbidden
The specified request cannot be processed in the application pool that is configured for this resource on the Web server.

Is there another, perhaps better, to connect to this website?

Sincerely,
Gene Reeves

Dear Gene (and other interested contributors), Sorry about that broken link for making contributions to the Luis Gomez Memorial Fund.

The following link should work properly: https://leadersandbest.umich.edu/find/#!/give/basket/fund/700277/tributee/Luis%20Gomez/type/memory

Please let me know if there are any additional problems.

Best, Erick White -- Assistant Professor of Thai Buddhist Studies Department of Asian Languages and Cultures University of Michigan
