Position Summary:

The Department of Philosophy and Religion at Rollins College invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Religion with specialization in Asian Religions, beginning Fall 2023. Teaching load is 6 courses per year, including a survey of Asian Religions, introductory Buddhism courses, general education courses in the candidate’s fields of interest, and Senior Seminar courses on rotation. We encourage candidates to propose courses within their specialty. We are an active and collegial department, committed to DEI.

As most of you know, Lance Cousins was an extraordinary scholar, and while we are lucky to have his innumerable papers and a wonderful volume dedicated to him (edited by Naomi Appleton and Peter Harvey), this is the only book-length work by him, and I cannot recommend it more strongly.

BERKELEY — The Numata Center for Buddhist Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2022 Toshihide Numata Book Award in Buddhism is Professor John Strong (Emeritus Professor, Bates), for his book, The Buddha’s Tooth: Western Tales of a Sri Lankan Relic (University of Chicago Press, 2021).
