Queer History : New Research
Workshop at Goldsmiths, University of London
16 June 2018, 10am to 6pm
Queer History invites many questions that challenge our understandings of the past and the present. This workshop will offer a forum for discussing current research projects into the lives and experiences of LGBTQI people and organisations. The purview of the workshop is deliberately broad, welcoming contributions across period, theme, and region, from Britain, Europe and beyond including global and transnational connections. Our main intention is to bring together scholars to engage with each other’s research, including works in progress, in a more informal setting in order to take stock of where the field is heading and to forge a lively exchange between topics and researchers in all stages of their careers. Presentations of 20 minutes will be followed by extensive workshop discussion.
We invite proposals including an abstract of 300 words and a 1 page CV by 16 April 2018. Participants will be notified by 30 April. Lunch and refreshment will be available, but unfortunately we cannot cover any travel or accommodation expenses.
Goldsmiths Queer History launched the first MA in Queer History in 2017. This innovative programme has welcomed students from across disciplinary boundaries to study queer history in London. We also host numerous speakers and events throughout the year and are developing the Archive for Queer Life Stories to be housed at Goldsmiths.
