New Book: Offshore Attachments: Oil and Intimacy in the Caribbean
Dear colleagues,
I am excited to announce that my book, Offshore Attachments: Oil and Intimacy in the Caribbean, is now available from the University of California Press.
Joining histories of sexuality, energy, and empire, the book reveals how the contested management of sex and race transformed the Caribbean into a crucial site in the global oil economy. Moving from Caribbean oil towns to European metropolises and examining such issues as sex work, contraception, kinship, and the constitution of desire, Offshore Attachments narrates how racialized concern with sex shaped hydrocarbon industries as the age of oil met the end of empire.
Through the month of May, anyone interested in purchasing the book or recommending it to their institutional libraries may use the code MAY40 to receive a 40% discount on the UC Press website.
All the best,
