Dear H-Net Subscribers,
Wednesday morning (March 11, 2020) H-Net's host intitution, Michigan State University, advised students to return to their permanent residence and moved all classes online until April 20. H-Net's Home Office staff is made up of MSU undergraduate and graduate students so we have been following the lead of the state of Michigan and MSU as the coronaviurs has spread. Now that there are confirmed cases in Michigan and we have learned that an "individual linked to our campus" is being investigated for possible exposure, we felt it best to ask our student staff members to follow MSU recommendations and stay away from campus.
The staff will be working remotely as tasks permit, so we don't anticipate major disruptions to H-Net Services. As our Reviews program is tied to the inventory of books in our Home Office, however, we do ask for your patience with matters related to mailing review copies.
H-Net is also in the process of setting up two spaces on the H-Net Commons to accomodate those affected by the coronavirus. One is for scholars to share resources related to teaching online as many institutions are likewise temporarily moving away from face-to-face instruction. The other will be a space for publishing conference presentations for those who's conferences were cancelled as a precautionary measure. Look for future announcements details both of those initiatives.
We hope for health and safety for all of you. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have questions.
All the best,
Interim Executive Director
