The Sociology of Emotions study group brings together theory, methods and research on social emotions and affect. Details about the group can be found here: https://www.britsoc.co.uk/groups/study-groups/sociology-of-emotions-study-group/ The group will hold its 2nd Annual one-day workshop on Friday 15 September 2017, at the University of Salford. The workshop will provide opportunities for researchers to present and discuss aspects of their work, gain a sense of the breadth and depth of emotion research in the UK and elsewhere, and to establish contact with fellow researchers in the field. We invite papers from researchers working on social aspects of emotion. We are primarily interested in sociological papers, but welcome studies from related disciplines including history, geography, politics, criminology, work and organisations and health and illness. Papers showcasing work addressing emotions in current and past processes of social and political change are particularly welcome. We would also encourage PhD candidates to submit abstracts. A small fee will be charged to cover catering.

Please send brief abstracts of 150-250 words to mary.holmes@ed.ac.uk by 31 July 2017
