One of the (many) exciting parts of participating in the H-Commons is to be able to share and re-use scholarly communications across networks and with multiple formats. H-Net, in its new platform, continues to find connections across borders normally assigned to professional organizations eager to stake their claims in contested areas of intellectual inquiry.

Recently the H-Net Council has been discussing the vital role that advisory boards might play as our networks settle in to the new platform of the H-Net Commons.

H-Net communities have long been an important space for scholarly discussions and offer a safe space to explore new ideas or to debate old ones. Whether large or small, the H-Net networks today work so well because of their editors' unflagging commitment to H-Net's mission and our belief in open access to and for academia.

With a great sense of personal happiness and professional comraderie, I write this inaugural blog post as your H-Net President for 2015. Throughout the coming year, I will offer my perspectives on how the many different initiatives undertaken by the H-Net Council impact our H-Net networks and the larger community of scholarly organizations.
