Call for Papers on African Cities and Urban Spaces at the 3rd Lagos Conference, University of Lagos, Nigeria, June 14-16, 2018

The organizers of the 3rd Lagos Conference of the Lagos Studies Association (LSA) seek individual and panel proposals focusing on African urban spaces and cities. We seek proposals that engage the idea of futurity in scholarship, the arts, and social activism across the continent. How are African cities conceiving their futures? What are the unique historical, political, and economic factors that informed how the idea of the future is discussed or engaged across multiple levels of the society? We anticipate paper presentation that would place African cities in comparative perspectives, while also engaging circumstances unique to each location.

Submission: Individual proposals should include a 250-word abstract, a short bio, and email and phone contacts of presenters. Panel, round-table, and workshop proposals should comprise a 250-word summary, and email and phone contacts of all participants. Selected papers from this conference will be published in a special issue of urban and African studies journals.

Abstract Due Date: October 31, 2017 (Notification of acceptance of abstract by November 30, 2017)
