Colleagues, I will be working at the British National Archives in Kew for the last two weeks of July. Can you recommend places to stay within walking distance? Thanks, Karen

Dear Karen (if I may),
As it happens, I'm at TNA presently. I stay at Shirley & Chris Royle's B&B at 34 Forest Road, Kew. Unless you want a 'full English', it's hard to beat and five minutes from the former Public Record Office.
Last September while at Kew, I stayed at Muse Haus through Airbnb. It's a little like a bed and breakfast but without a host. You basically get a key, fridge space, access to the kitchen, and a nice room. It's in Chiswick Park, but I walked to the archives everyday and it only took me twenty or twenty five minutes. It's a nice walk, too. Anyway, the price is right, it's clean, and it's in a good neighborhood.
I stayed at the Coach & Horses which is a lovely little pub very close to the Kew Gardens and a short walk to the archives. Nice food in the restaurant and friendly staff.
I have been to the Archives on a few occasions. The places I stayed were the Travelodge at Kew Bridge and the Premier Inn Brentford. Walking distance is about 25 minutes from the Travelodge and 35 minutes from the Premier Inn. If you don't fancy the walk both hotels are on the 65 bus route that will get you within a few minutes walk of the archives. Bus stops for both hotels are more or less just outside them.
Over the years I've stayed at a number of local BnBs whose details you can find here http://www.kewaccommodation.com/. They're all very close, and I;ve found everyone to friendly. I've also heard good things about the Coach and Horses!
