The third volume of YILLIK: Annual of Istanbul Studies, Istanbul Research Institute's peer-reviewed and open access journal is now online!
Peer-reviewed articles of YILLIK: Annual of Istanbul Studies 3 (2021), devoted to the memories and intellectual legacies of Dr. Yavuz Sezer (1979–2021) and Professor Doğan Kuban (1926–2021), include works from architectural and urban history, historical geography, and history of the book. Among the peer-reviewed articles, Ezgi Dikici’s “Eunuchs and the City: Residences and Real Estate Owned by Court Eunuchs in Late Sixteenth-Century Istanbul” is the recipient of our Early Career Article Prize.
In the Meclis section, under the co-editorship of three members of our Advisory Board—Koray Durak, Cemal Kafadar, and Christine Philliou—we are excited to present the “Interventions to Istanbul Studies” series. Cabinet, devoted to documents from the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Collections, features an analysis of a nineteenth-century engraving that depicts an eighteenth-century courtly procession. YILLIK’s 2021 issue concludes with book and exhibition reviews, and the most recent edition of the Istanbul Bibliography.
