More Viital than Ever in the Changing Landscape of Knowledge Work

I've been an H-Net member since I was in graduate school in the 1990s, where it was vital to my job search and building the conference network I've attended ever since. Being a book review editor has been my way of giving back – seeking out grad students and being the book fairy for new works that they need for their own research, pushing the definitions of "military history" to include diverse fields and people (especially important in a field that encompasses so many people outside of traditional academia – international colleagues, NGOs, military and government workers), and taking great satisfaction when I can send out a book for review written by someone who started out a decade before as a reviewer. H-Net is the whole academic circle of life, without the hurdles of paywalls, institutional subscriptions and the narrow aperture of higher ed, more vital than ever in the changing landscape of knowledge work.

Beginning this Giving Tuesday and extending until the end of the year, we're working to raise $35,000 to help support new platform development for the H-Net Commons, H-Net Job Guide, and H-Net Reviews. Would you donate today to help us reach that goal? Your generosity will make it possible for us to provide the services academics value on more technologically up-to-date and mobile-friendly platforms that are responsive to user experience feedback from H-Net editors and subscribers.

You can help us build a better future for H-Net and its subscribers by making a gift today. Subscribers like you make it possible for H-Net to not only continue, but to improve and expand upon, these vital services--we couldn't do it without you. Thank you for supporting H-Net: Humanities and Social Sciences Online!
