Junior Scholars Workshop
A new season of the Southern Historical Association’s Junior Scholars Workshop is underway! This season’s schedule will offer new and exciting research discussions on World War I, indigenous history, the history of the Confederacy and the international black freedom struggle in the nineteenth century. The Junior Scholars Workshop is designed to encourage advanced graduate student and recent graduates in the field of southern history by providing an opportunity for them to share their work with senior historians and receive constructive feedback. Meeting on the third Thursday of each month via zoom, the recorded sessions also are a space for SHA members to connect outside of the annual meeting and learn about emerging scholarship.
January’s meeting will take place Thursday, January 19th from 4-5 EST. The workshop will feature a paper by Dr. Nathan K. Finney (Goodpaster Scholar, U.S. Army) titled "'The Official War Emergency Organization in Your State': North Carolina and Mobilization in the First World War" with comments by Dr. Brian Balogh (University of Virginia) and Dr. Jennifer Keene (Chapman University).
Interested attendees should complete this short google form (https://forms.gle/zbm1yM1f6aAFfHKKA) to receive email announcements of coming workshops, as well as the pre-circulated paper about a week ahead of the meeting. Attendees will also receive the zoom link by signing up.
