How to Subscribe and Post to H-Maps

1. Go to https://networks.h-net.org/ and login.
2. Visit the network - select form "My Networks" or go to https://networks.h-net.org/h-maps
3. Click on "Start a Discussion with Fellow Scholars."
4. Create your message and
   - add a title/subject line
   - add a category (note that categories are selected by the editors)
   - add at least one tag (a keyword describing the content/subject of your message)
5. Click "Submit to editor" to submit your message.

Replying to H-Maps posts

1. At the bottom of each e-mail notification you will find the option "Read more or reply." Clicking this link takes you to the post.
2. If you encounter an  "access denied" error, you are not logged into H-Net Commons. Just log in and continue.
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter your reply into the text-field. Use the formatting options of the text editor to add features to your message.
4. Click "Submit to editor" to submit your message.

You want to post an item, but...

You do not have an H-Net account:

1. Visit http://networks.h-net.org/user/register and create an account.
2. If you have an account, log in and select H-Maps from the list of networks  at  http://networks.h-net.org/networks. Click "subscribe" to request a subscription.
   Note: Please make sure that you have included basic data in your H-Net profile. To do so, select "Profile" from the pull-down menue in the top right corner (hidden under the blue silhouette).
   Please include:
   - Academic affiliation (if applicable)
   - Field(s) of interest
   
   After your subscription has been accepted, you will be able to submit a post to H-Maps.

You have an H-Net account, but are not subscribed to H-Maps:

1. If you have an account, log in and select H-Maps from the list of networks  at  http://networks.h-net.org/networks. After navigating to the front page of H-Maps, scroll down and press black "Subscribe to this Network" button in the right hand sidebar menu.
   Note: Please make sure that you have included basic data in your H-Net profile. To do so, select "Profile" from the pull-down menue in the top right corner (hidden under the blue silhouette).
   Please include:
   - Academic affiliation (if applicable)
   - Field(s) of interest
   
   After your subscription has been accepted, you will be able to submit a post to H-Maps.

Important:

• Each item posted is linked to a profile (so please make sure that your profile includes  basic data - academic affiliation, field(s) of interest).
• Please avoid adding personal information (phone numbers, physical addresses etc.).
• Want to limit the number of messages in your inbox?  in your profile, edit 'notifications' and set frequency to "daily digest."  You will receive one message from H-Maps each day that there are postings with an indexed list of each message from that day.
