ANN: Rehabilitating "Historical Map"

Matthew Edney Discussion

What's wrong with talking about maps that we want to consider historically as "historical maps"?

I have a post on this topic, arguing for the readoption of the term "historical map" for any map from the past that is considered in an historical manner. I'm sorry of the ending is weak: I'm overheated right now (working from home without air conditioning).

Enjoy!

Missing from the Bibliography on the term 'historical maps' is a highly relevant essay, now in its *second edition*, by Catherine Delano-Smith, Roger J.P. Kain, and Katie Parker in Elsevier's 'International Encyclopedia of Human Geography' (2019), vol 8 (I think) pp 705-26.

Readers of H-Maps should have a look!
I am sorry I don't have the URL to hand.
