ANN: Postponement of the Launch of Volume 4 of the History of Cartography

Dear All:

In recent correspondence with donors to the History of Cartography Project, all sent before the impact of the novel coronavirus was really felt in the US, we announced that the Project would launch Cartography in the European Enlightenment, Volume Four of The HIstory of Cartography, at the University of Wisconsin–Madison on 25 April 2020.

It will come as no surprise, I'm sure, that given the circumstances, I and the Project's partners (Friends of the UW Libraries, Wisconsin Book Festival, UW Special Collections, UW Map Library) have decided to postpone the event, probably until mid-October or early November. My associated lectures at UW (on 22 and 24 April) are also postponed.

The second planned launch, at a special meeting of the Chicago Map Society on 7 May, is still technically on the books, but at this stage I doubt that we will be able to go ahead with it. If it is indeed cancelled, i will work with CMS for a Fall launch date.

I do hope you all are faring well in these difficult times.
