Funds: Small Grants for Early Career Digital Publications from the Leventhal Map & Education Center - May 18 deadline

Garrett Nelson Discussion

The Leventhal Map & Education Center at the Boston Public Library seeks applications to the Small Grants for Early Career Digital Publications program, which supports researchers with interests at the intersection of geography, cartography, and the digital humanities.

The Small Grants program offers a $1200 stipend and technical support for a digital publication on a cartographic or geographic topic which will be featured in the LMEC’s digital platforms. To date, we’ve supported projects that examine topics as wide ranging as the geography of The Brownies’ Books, a deep analysis of John Winthrop’s 1633 map of Massachusetts Bay, and mapping Boston’s “Little Syria.” Read more about the cohort of projects supported by the 2022-2023 Small grants program.

Grantees are not required to work in person in Boston during the grant’s performance period, which will follow the 2023-2024 academic year. Applications are open through May 18, 2023. Read more and apply at the following page:
