The William L. Clements Library at the University of Michigan is seeking a Curator of Maps and Graphics to become the primary individual responsible for the development, conservation, and access systems for maps and visual materials. The Map Division includes about 30,000 maps and plans relating to the Americas, of which around 2,500 are manuscript. In addition to individual maps, the Clements has roughly 500 atlases dating from 1486 to the end of the nineteenth century. The Graphics print collection numbers approximately 9,000 items, the bulk of which spans the late 18th to middle 19th centuries. Almost every printing process from woodcuts and copper plate engravings, to color lithographs and photomechanical prints is represented. Both collections continue to grow.
A full description of the job, its requirements and benefits, may be found on the University of Michigan Careers website.
