Query: Posters showcasing map history research for a class assignment

Friends,

Students taking my upper-level undergraduate course in map history have the option of presenting research projects in the form of a poster instead of a paper. Assigning a poster is new for me. I would appreciate suggestions or advice from those who have incorporated student posters into their teaching (or who have models to share). The most relevant examples and guidelines I find for 'research' and 'scientific' posters focus on the natural sciences, which are more helpful for form rather than for content.
