Abstract: "Existing notions of racial discrimination were amplified in the course of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars in 1944 and the ban on their return in subsequent decades. After repatriation, Crimean Tatars found themselves a minority on their own land, facing a myth that justified previous colonization policies."
