Dear Colleagues,

I hope you are doing well during these uncertain times.

As an invited editor of the Ukrainian peer-reviewed journal Ukraina Moderna, I would like to invite you to submit your paper proposal for a special issue dedicated to the Ukrainian Revolution (1914–1923) and in memoriam of Mark von Hagen.

This issue offers a critical rethinking of modern interpretations of the Ukrainian Revolution and aspires to stimulate new research. The main themes of the issue include:

(1) the terminology, temporality, and spatiality of the Ukrainian Revolution; (2) the interconnections between the Ukrainian Revolution, national revolutions in Europe's East, and revolutions in Russia; (3) the Ukrainian Revolution and the "continued violence" in Europe (1914–1920s); (4) the historiographies of the Ukrainian Revolution in their national, transnational, and global dimensions.

All those interested are invited to submit:

  1. their proposed topic with a brief article description (up to 500 words);
  2. a short biographical note (up to 150 words);
  3. contact information (name, email, institutional affiliation).

Accepted authors will be asked to submit their manuscripts by August 31, 2020. In the email subject line, please write: "UM29(2021): First Name, Last Name, Abridged Name of Article." All articles will be subject to a double-blind review. Please submit the proposed subjects and annotations to the guest editor, Oksana Dudko at o.dudko@lvivcenter.orgby June 10, 2020.
