What do we mean by diversity and inclusion within the context of Central Asian, Russian and Eastern European Studies (CAREES) publishing? How can we encourage and ensure inclusivity within research outputs in our field? What barriers need to be deconstructed in order to represent diverse voices? These are the guiding questions behind an upcoming roundtable event at the British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies (BASEES) Annual Conference in Cambridge, UK, from 3rd-5th April 2020.
Proposed and organized by Routledge, Taylor & Francis, the "Diversity and Inclusion in Knowledge Production" roundtable is intended as a forum for thoughtful, nuanced, honest conversations about the treatment of difference within CAREES publishing. We hope to highlight the progress that has been made in the field, but also areas in need of further examination and transformation. To ensure a panel that is well-rounded, wide-ranging, and representative of the community, we're seeking participants of all backgrounds and all levels of experience to share their perspectives in this vital discussion.
To indicate your interest, please complete the form at http://bit.ly/routpanel20 by 5th March.
Please note that in-person attendance of the conference is required for participation in the roundtable, which has been scheduled for session three (9.00-10.30am) on Saturday 4th April. If you cannot attend BASEES 2020, but are interested in potentially engaging with similar events at future academic conferences, please feel free to complete the form with "No" as your answer to Question #1, and we can stay in touch. Please note that we are unfortunately not able to cover travel or accommodation costs.
There is no commitment implied when you submit. We will follow up via email with those whom we consider to be a good fit for the BASEES 2020 roundtable and discuss in more detail at that time. Even if you are not selected for this particular panel, please know that your contribution is greatly appreciated and will help to inform the conversations both at the upcoming roundtable and in future initiatives.
