The Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies Program at the University of Oregon (REEES) invites applications for its two-year M.A. degree. REEES is the home of undergraduate and graduate programs in all fields connected to Russia, Eastern Europe, and former Soviet Eurasia at the University of Oregon.

REEES is one of the oldest programs devoted to the study of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia in the United States. Established in 1968, it was a founding institutional member of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies, now the Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies. REEES today reflects a long history of interdisciplinary scholarly interaction.  Our roster of participating faculty members and numerous associated, emeritus, and courtesy faculty comprises innovative and committed teachers, with distinguished and in many cases internationally-recognized records of scholarly publication.

The Master’s program in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies is inherently interdisciplinary, combining area studies with a concentration in a discipline. You may take courses that deal with Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia in a host of departments across the UO (Anthropology, Art History, Business, Comparative Literature, Geography, Journalism, Law, Linguistics, Music, History, Political Science, Religious Studies, and Sociology) and count them toward your REEES M.A, provided that one-third of your work for the course deals with the region. However, you are expected to pursue a concentration in one of three broad fields: Russian Literature, Russian, Eastern European and Eurasian History, or Contemporary Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia. Graduate students working in the social sciences or professional fields such as Journalism or Business typically opt to pursue the third option.

Application deadline is Feb. 1; for further information please go to our website, http://reees.uoregon.edu/.
