Academic Stipends for Ukrainian Scholars (University of Manitoba)

In addition to joining Scholars at Risk, UM is pledging for Ukrainian scholars: 

  • Up to twenty, 1-year academic stipends for research and/or teaching at up to $50,000 each ($1.0M total) with costs being split evenly between a faculty/school/college and central administration. 

Ukrainian scholars interested in applying should email Inquiries will be directed to the appropriate faculty/school/college.  

Application process flow 

  • Emails to from interested Ukrainian scholars will be directed to the appropriate faculty/school/college. 
  • Academic units on the receiving end of inquiries should invite potential scholars to speak to their department – to give an online talk or participate in an interview/small group meeting to assess academic fit and/or feasibility within the academic unit.  
  • The academic unit should connect with their HR consultant as early in the inquiry process as possible. HR will be able to assist in sorting out any classification, immigration and payroll issues that may arise. 
  • Stipends will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
