Disability Representation in Contemporary Media - Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA) Convention in Philadelphia

Michael Willson Discussion

I will be chairing a panel on “Disability Representation in Contemporary Media” at the Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA) Convention in Philadelphia from March 11-14—and I would be grateful if you could forward the following CFP to any listservs (or individuals) that you consider appropriate: ( paper submissions. ).

Of course, if there is any possibility of you yourself attending NeMLA next March, I would be deeply honored to include you on the panel.

I am seeking abstracts on any approach to disability studies and media studies. Types of disabilities include, but are not limited to, intellectual, psychiatric, neurological, physical, visual, and hearing. Forms of media include, but are not limited to, cinema, television, journalism, advertisements, any form of web media, and music.

I should also mention that NeMLA asks for an abstract of no more than 300 words, to be uploaded to the submission portal by September 30.  (As you will see, the conference website also asks contributors to register briefly with a NeMLA “account,” in order to upload an abstract.)
