On May 1, come to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History to enjoy a FREE public program featuring inventor, choreographer, and accessibility advocate Merry Lynn Morris!

Merry Lynn Morris, MFA, PhD is a choreographer and dance educator, serving as the Assistant Director for the University of South Florida Dance Program and as a faculty member for twenty years. She holds an MFA degree in Dance Performance and Choreography and a PhD in Dance Studies. Dr. Morris began exploring the area of integrated/inclusive dance in 2002, drawing on the experience of caring for her father who had a disability. She has developed collaborative projects with engineers to invent new mobility devices for use in and outside of dance. Dr. Morris serves on the board for Arts4All Florida, a statewide arts and disability organization and teaches for REVolutions Dance, an inclusive dance program in Florida. She has earned five U.S. Patents and authored more than 25 publications.

Beth Ziebarth, Director of the Smithsonian’s Accessibility Program, will lead a discussion with Morris, followed by questions from the audience, and a FREE reception!

The Innovative Lives series brings audiences of all ages and backgrounds face-to-face with inventors and innovation leaders. Invited speakers share the stories behind their breakthroughs, their process of developing ideas and technologies, and strategies for overcoming failure and achieving success, all while framing a discussion around how to participate in innovation.
