Today we feature the first part of an author interview with Dr. Tyler D. Parry, the author of Jumping The Broom: The Surprising Multicultural Origins of a Black Wedding Ritual (UNC Press). The conversation goes in-depth on Dr. Parry’s research methodologies, key arguments of the book, and the longevity of the marriage ritual across countries and people.

 

Tyler D. Parry is Assistant Professor of African American and African Diaspora Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
