Query: Tallest American building during the Civil War?

Trinity Church in New York--still standing on lower Broadway--was the tallest building in the U.S. until 1869. The Latting Observatory, a wood and glass observation tower that was built for the 1853 Exhibition of Industry of All Nations, was taller, but was not intended to be permanent. It stood from 1853-56.
