The PCB-AHA serves all members of the American Historical Association residing and working in the twenty-two states west of the Mississippi and the four western provinces of Canada. Our annual meeting brings together historians of all spatial, temporal, and thematic specializations.
The 2019 Program Committee invites proposals for panels, roundtables, and individual papers on any subject, but particularly welcomes proposals that address the conference theme: Global Connections, Local Impact. Whether considering the nexus of domestic politics and foreign policy, the global and parochial (and even personal) implications of immigration policy, or the influence that local advocacy efforts have on broader social change, the relationship between the global and the local is one that generates a wealth of historical inquiry and analysis. The conference theme aims to highlight those connections.
The Program Committee encourage proposals that enable conversations across specialist boundaries and engage the audience. We welcome submissions from graduate students, adjunct faculty, non-traditional scholars, and K-12 teachers. Anniversaries that may provide inspiration for panels and roundtables include the beginning of the French Revolution (1789); the California gold rush (1849); the Versailles Treaty (1919); the beginning of World War II in Europe (1939); the formation of NATO (1949); the Apollo 11 moon landing (1969); the Iranian revolution and hostage crisis (1979); and the Tiananmen Square protests and fall of the Berlin Wall (1989).

Proposals must include a contact person; a title and 250-word abstract of the panel or roundtable; the title and brief (100 word) description of each presentation; a one-page C.V. (including the e-mail address and affiliation) for each participant; and any AV requests.

Decisions regarding acceptance will be conveyed no later than March 1, 2019. Please note that submission of a proposal constitutes a commitment to attend the conference if the proposal is accepted. Graduate student presenters will receive information about travel subventions upon acceptance.
