Malachy R. McCarthy Discussion

The March seminar will focus on 19th and 20th century Urban Protestantism. Barbara Dobschuetz's paper, Fundamentalism and American Urban Culture; Community and Religious Identity in Paul Rader's Chicago, 1915-1937  examines fundamentalism and use of new technology in preaching the gospel. Andrew MacDonald's presentation, In the Evangelical Sense: The Swing Trial and Late Nineteenth Century Urban Protestantism focuses on the impact of David Swing's 1874 trial.
