Xinjiang concentration camps, update

At my university, Cornell U, on Sept. 10, we held a roundtable discussion on the Xinjiang concentration camps tragedy. It went very well, big crowd, great Q&A; also it was nicely written up in the student campus newspaper:

My main message was: Let's not be silent. I'm happy to send my Powerpoint to anyone, it's a 15-slide overview of the situation. I made one special slide on the important point that many brave Chinese actually also disagree with the atrocious govt policies.

--We did not know that at the same hour, in Geneva, in her FIRST speech, the new UN chair of the human rights commission, Michelle Bachelet (former Chilean president who was once herself a political prisoner), also expressed grave concerns about the Xinjiang camps -- and demanded full access to all of China, including Xinjiang, for her high office (which China's government has been denying, because of what they are hiding): https://www.scmp.com/news/world/europe/article/2163587/new-un-rights-chief-takes-stabs-worlds-mighty-ranging-china

--Another important item in the last few days is the just-released big report from Human Rights Watch, a massive refutation of the Chinese govt denials of these atrocities:

“Eradicating Ideological Viruses” - China’s Campaign of Repression Against Xinjiang’s Muslims. HRW, September 9, 2018. https://www.hrw.org/report/2018/09/09/eradicating-ideological-viruses/chinas-campaign-repression-against-xinjiangs

This is also in my running bibliography on the Xinjiang concentration camps, which has been & will be further updated, at:
