The Leo Baeck Institute is offering a Career Development Award as a personal grant to a scholar or professional in an early career stage, e.g. before gaining tenure in an academic institution or its equivalent, whose proposed work would deal with topics within the Leo Baeck Institute’s mission, namely historical or cultural issues of the Jewish experience in German-speaking lands.

The award of up to $20,000 will cover the period July 1 – June 30 of the following year and, at the discretion of the reviewing board, may be renewed for a second year.

ANN: Bogdanow Online Holocaust Studies event 2021 (9 February 2021)

The University of Manchester Centre for Jewish Studies is pleased to announce the 2021 Bogdanow Lecture in Holocaust Studies will be delivered by Oscar-winning film director László Nemes. The globally acclaimed filmmaker, whose 2015 film ‘Son of Saul’ won numerous international prizes including an Academy Award, the Grand Prix, the Golden Globe and BAFTA, will speak on the topic of Holocaust portrayals in fiction film. The opening address for the event will be given by Chancellor of the University of Manchester Lemn Sissay.
