The Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Society and the Leibniz Research Center Hannover (Leibniz-Archiv) are organizing the Third International School for PhD Candidates Researching Leibniz in Hannover, July 24 – 28, 2023. The doctoral school will be under the direction of Dr. Valérie Debuiche (Université d’Aix-Marseille, Maître de Conférences en Philosophie) and Prof. Dr. Pauline Phemister (University of Edinburgh, Chair of the History of Philosophy, Research Advisor).

The emphasis will be on the presentation and discussion of the participants’ PhD theses. Part of the school will also be an introduction to the editorial work undertaken in connection with the Leibniz edition (thereby promoting editorial work for young researchers).

Participants are requested to attend the 11th International Leibniz Congress. Further information can be found at:

Applicants are asked to send, by February 28, 2023, an exposé (5 pages) of their dissertation project, the name of their university and of their supervisor as well as a list of any publications via email to the following address:

The exposé should be written in German, English or French. The decision concerning participation will be made by the end of March 2023.

The accommodation will be paid for by us. A subsidy towards covering travelling expenses is possible.
