The Thomas Sturge Moore Collection at Senate House Library (SHL) includes some fascinating materials by the Nobel Prize winning author Sir Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941). This workshop will focus on select materials in the Tagore Papers (MS782) at SHL which have been recently digitised. They include poem transcripts by Tagore that were translated and edited by Sturge Moore at a pivotal period when Tagore was being introduced to English readers.

In addition to learning more about SHL’s Tagore collection, participants will also learn about digitisation workflows, basic principles of textual editing, and encoding documents in Markdown, a simple markup language for document transcription.

Lunch will be provided - please note any dietary requirements on the booking form. Organised by Christopher Ohge (IES), Richard Espley (SHL) and Ulich Tiedau (UCL).

Unless stated otherwise, all our events are free of charge and anyone interested in the topic is welcome to attend. Registration is required for all events. Please sign up using the booking form.
