The conference "Sites of Transit in Europe from WW2 to the Present. History, Spaces, Memories" is organized by Fondazione Fossoli and will take place in Carpi (Italy) from October 3 to 6. Thirty scholars will discuss their research works on the topics of the conference. Keynote speakers will be Renée Poznanski (October 3) and Liliana Segre (October 4). Renée Poznanski will discuss her book, written with Denis Peschanski and Bénoît Pouvreau "Drancy. Un camp en France" (Paris,Â Fayard, 2015). Liliana Segre is Senator for Life of the Italian Republic. In 1943 was deported to Birkenau from where she returned as one of the 35 Italian children (out of 776 deported children) that survived the Holocaust.
The conference is open and free. An Italian-English simultaneous translation service will be provided. On October 6 Fondazione Fossoli is organizing a special visit for conference participants to the Museo Monumento al Deportato and at Campo di Fossoli. Everyone is welcome!
