Dear Subscribers,

New Books in French Studies is a podcast that will appeal to those interested in French colonial history.  In 2013, Dr. Roxanne Panchasi, Associate Professor of History at Simon Fraser University, started the channel on the New Books Network, under Editor-in-chief Marshall Poe.  The monthly podcast features interviews with scholars in all areas of French studies about their books.  The podcast has included works such as Danna Agmon’s A Colonial Affair:  Commerce, Conversion, and Scandal in French India (2018), Kathleen Keller’s Colonial Suspects:  Suspicion, Imperial Rule, and Colonial Society in Interwar West Africa (2018), and Patricia Lorcin and Todd Shepard’s edited volume French Mediterraneans:  Transnational and Imperial Histories (2016).  With interviews with over 60 scholars about their books since 2013, this podcast is a great way to keep up with new scholarship, find fresh work for your courses, and build graduate reading lists.

Best,

Dr. Erica Johnson Edwards, Network Editor
