Postcolonial Text, a refereed open-access journal that publishes academic and creative writing on postcolonial, transnational, and indigenous themes, is seeking copyeditors. The positions are voluntary—though new team members will benefit from contributing to the process of publishing some of the most current research in the field.
The position requires excellent written communication skills, careful attention to detail, a strong command of grammar and spelling, competency in MS Word, and academic familiarity with the field of postcolonial studies.
The Copyeditor’s role is to improve clarity and readability in the manuscript: by suggesting grammatical and stylistic edits (e.g. to fix wordiness, awkward phrasing, repetition, inconsistencies, organizational weaknesses) and by checking for factual accuracies (e.g. of dates, names, places, events, sources). The copyeditor works together with the author to agree on such changes.
To apply, please submit a short statement of interest with a CV to Managing Editor Esther de Bruijn (King's College London) at esther.debruijn@kcl.ac.uk by 15 February 2021.
