Greetings members of H-Florida!

As the current review editor and a list editor for H-Florida, I wanted to tell you about why I find H-Net to be a wonderful resource and worthy of your support. Some of you are already aware that there is a fundraising drive to help preserve H-Net's independence and integrity, but there is a chance that a few of you may still be unaware.

First woman elected to a city commission in Florida

I have found a reference in The St. Augustine Record to Florine McQuiag as the first woman elected to a city commission in Florida. She was elected to the St. Augustine City Commission in 1948.I'ved looked in various "Halls of Fame" around the state and I can't find an earlier female commissioner. Does anyone know of someone prior to 1948?
