The Centre for Research on Governance and Democracy (CPGD), the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) - Mozambique representation, and the V-Dem (Varieties of Democracy) Institute of the University of Gothenburg, are hosting a Conference on Democracy, on Wednesday, 24 May 2017, in Maputo, Mozambique at the Maputo VIP Hotel, between 8:00 and 17:30 hours.


The first half of the conference focuses on the Varieties of Democracy Project, which will, among others things, demonstrate how to use V-Dem (Varieties of Democracy) data to monitor the progress of the Sustainable Development Goal No 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.


The second half of the conference includes two panels. The first on Defending Democracy and Political Communication in Mozambique; and the second, Transformations and Protest: Current Challenges for Southern Africa Democracy.
