NORTH AMERICAN VICTORIAN STUDIES ASSOCIATION 2019

MEDIA. GENRE. THE GENERIC.

OCTOBER 17-19, 2019

NAVSA 2019 invites all scholars of the British nineteenth century, in history, literary criticism, art history, media studies, and more. We are eager to include, among other topics, multiple perspectives on empire and postcolonial legacies. Our keynote speakers will be director Mike Leigh, whose most recent film is Peterloo (2018), and historian Priya Satia, author of Empire of Guns: The Violent Making of the Industrial Revolution (2018).

Proposals might directly address the theme of media and genre. Alternatively, we offer the theme itself as generic: the conference is open-call on any topic. Submit on any area of research, teaching, or project-building (collaborative, creative, and/or public) that would be of interest to Victorianist scholars.

The submission deadline is January 28, 2018. Please see the full CFP for more information.
